About Laurence Harbor First Aid and Safety Squad
Organized during September of 1927, the members of the Laurence Harbor First Aid and Safety Squad (L.H.F.A.S.) have consistently and professionally provided Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to the residents of Laurence Harbor, Cliffwood Beach, Genoa, Cheesequake State Park, Cheesequake Village, Ellen Heath and surrounding areas (from State Hwy. 34 to State Hwy. 35 and from the Morgan Bridge to County Road), including other districts throughout Old Bridge Township, at no cost.
Situated at 17 Laurence Parkway in Laurence Harbor, the squad has occupied the former Laurence Harbor Fire Company #1's (LHFD) firehouse since 1972. Located just three blocks west of the beautiful Raritan Bay, LHFAS is just west of State Highway 35 South and sits next to the current LHFD building. This section of the 42 square-mile Old Bridge Township sits in the south-eastern most tip of Middlesex County and encompasses approximately 2 square-miles.
Today, the squad currently operates with twelve (12) NJ State-certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and answers well over 500 calls a year. The squad responds in one of two Ford chassis-mounted box-style ambulances designated by call signs BLS-600 and BLS-605 (BLS - Basic Life Support).
